Position Summary:
We’re hiring a hands-on leader to oversee operations in our melt area, where safety, quality, and production performance intersect. This role is responsible for directing furnace operations, leading personnel, and ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective melting processes.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead, coach, and manage melt crews including supervisors, furnace operators, and support staff.
• Ensure all furnace operations—from charging to alloying—meet metallurgical and customer standards.
• Monitor production output, scrap, and downtime to identify areas for improvement.
• Maintain safe working conditions and ensure environmental compliance across all melt processes.
• Coordinate closely with maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Maintain control of raw material, alloy, and refractory inventories.
• Document and refine procedures, train team members, and support process audits.
• Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to resolve production or material issues.
• Champion continuous improvement, using data to drive performance and reduce waste.
• Build a strong team culture focused on accountability, safety, and results.

Who You Are:

• Minimum high school diploma or GED; technical or engineering degree strongly preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in melt operations, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
• Deep knowledge of furnace types (induction or cupola), melting practices (knowledge of melting processes in ductile iron), and metallurgy.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong communication, planning, and team development skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Proactive about safety, with a solid understanding of OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Familiar with Lean or CI tools and comfortable using ERP/CMMS systems.
