Part-Time Bookkeeper

(Lionville/Exton/Downingtown, PA Area.) Real Estate Investment Firm and Commercial Mortgage Lender with 27+ years in business is looking for a skilled “full charge” bookkeeper to handle the accounting for primarily residential rental properties and some mortgage loan accounts. This is an in-office position. Regular remote work will not be considered. Responsibilities include-paying all bills (mortgages, taxes, insurance, utilities, contractors, etc.), generating and sending monthly tenant and borrower account statements, processing tenant rental and customer loan payments, generating past due notices, making reminder phone calls to past due accounts, reconciling all deposit accounts, handling company banking, credit card processing, and on-line payment processing, updating and generating various internal reports, making adjusting entries as needed, accounting for return of tenant security deposits, and coordinating with the Company’s accountant at year end and tax time.

Requirements for this position include: 5+ years bookkeeping with extensive QuickBooks experience; an accounting degree is preferred, with at least numerous accounting classes being required; a strong working knowledge of Excel; an ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision; a desire to work in a fast-paced, results oriented environment; and patience when dealing with sometimes difficult customers. Credit, background and criminal checks will be performed on the selected applicant prior to start of work.

This position is 18-24 hours a week. Exact work schedule is negotiable, but must be consistent with some Friday coverage being required. Compensation is negotiable based on skills and experience with a range from $24-$28 per hour. Start date is negotiable. After a 3 month probationary period, the candidate will be eligible for various benefits including pro-rated holiday and vacation pay. After a year of service, the candidate will qualify for participation in the Company’s retirement plan. Transition to full-time with additional benefits may also be considered.
