Medical Equipment Test Technician
Job Description
Job Description
About Us
Winergy is a growing service company specializing in the testing and certification of critical hospital and medical research safety equipment. Our work helps ensure safety and compliance across healthcare and research environments nationwide.
We’re a small, mission-driven team that values integrity, precision, and doing meaningful work. We provide hands-on training and a clear growth path for individuals looking to advance their technical skills in a specialized field.
The Role
The Medical Equipment Test Technician is a hands-on, travel-based position responsible for inspecting and certifying critical safety equipment in hospitals, pharmacies, and research labs across the United States.
You do not need prior experience in this field. In fact, one of the biggest advantages of this role is our highly specialized training program. We will teach you everything you need to know on the job, helping you build new technical skills, earn valuable certifications, and grow your earning potential.
This position is perfect for someone currently working in another traveling technical role (e.g., biomedical technician, cable technician, low-voltage installer, auto repair tech) who wants to step into a more specialized career path. Transitioning veterans are also strongly encouraged to apply.
We’re hiring technicians based in the Greater Chicago area who are open to regular regional and national travel. Technicians typically travel up to 14 days per month, with trips ranging from 1–4 days.
What You’ll Do
- Inspect, test, and certify a variety of safety-critical equipment, including:
- Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs)
- Chemical Fume Hoods
- HEPA filters and cleanroom systems
- Test and certify airflow and pressure-controlled rooms
- Use hand tools, meters, and precision instruments to complete technical work
- Communicate findings clearly and deliver accurate reports
- Represent Winergy with professionalism while on client sites
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You Have:
- Curiosity and interest in building new skills
- Strong attention to detail and comfort with tools or instruments
- The ability to travel regularly and work independently
- A valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and clean driving record
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel and reading technical instructions
- No prior experience is required. We will train you.
What You Can Expect
- Paid, hands-on training and certification opportunities
- Work that makes a difference in hospitals and research environments
- Opportunities to grow into more advanced roles and increase your earnings
- A supportive and tight-knit team culture
Compensation & Benefits
- Standard starting pay: $60,000–$70,000 in your 1st year
- Typical 2nd-year pay: $100,000–$125,000
(includes raises and bonuses for earning certifications like CETA and NSF-49)
Additional Benefits
- Paid holidays and PTO
- Health insurance reimbursement
- 40+ hours/week with some weekend work
- Retirement plan (3% match)
