Senior Automation Systems Reliability Technician
Shape the uptime of our Customer Fulfillment Center
Picture your day: you arrive to a humming CFC, scan overnight alerts, and prioritize preventive tasks on conveyors, robotic packing cells, AMRs, and print-and-apply systems. A sorter motor shows early signs of failure—you diagnose, source parts, and return the line to peak performance before the first shift ramps up. By afternoon, you’re mentoring a junior tech through safe LOTO steps and reviewing PLC fault codes to eliminate a recurring jam. You wrap up by logging work orders and scheduling the next PMs to keep operations running flawlessly.
What you’ll do
- Own preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment across the CFC—conveyors, merges, sorters, VFDs, motors, robotic packing, AMRs, and print-and-apply labelers.
- Lead by example: guide less-experienced technicians on equipment operation, troubleshooting, safe work practices, and documentation.
- Plan and execute routine PMs; identify, order, and replace parts to complete repairs quickly and accurately.
- Respond to service requests with minimal supervision, troubleshoot controls and mechanical issues, and resolve faults without disrupting distribution operations.
- Interpret machine and building drawings and use them to diagnose issues efficiently.
- Keep the workshop organized; maintain test gear, tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Champion safety—document potential hazards, communicate them to the Facility Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor, and follow established SOPs and LOTO.
- Support our Safety Culture and MSC Culture; participate in safety teams, offer safety improvements, and help leaders identify and mitigate risks.
- Enter accurate data for work orders and time sheets; participate in special projects and other duties as needed.
What you bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification or degree in a related maintenance discipline.
- 5+ years of hands-on, job-related maintenance experience in industrial/warehouse environments.
- Training on automation equipment and 2+ years troubleshooting/repairing controls, including PLC-based systems (programming a plus, not required).
- Strong knowledge of conveyor components (merges, sorters, VFDs, motors) and proficiency reading electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Comfort operating scissor/boom lifts and working at heights up to 50 ft; strict adherence to LOTO.
- Calm under pressure with a bias for speed and efficiency.
- Experience with robotic packing, AMR, modular picking, and print-and-apply labelling systems.
- Advanced computer skills (Word/Excel); ability to learn CMMS and quality/warehouse software.
- Forklift licensed; must obtain MSC license to drive warehouse vehicles within specified time requirements.
Physical demands and work environment
- Regular sitting, standing, walking; climbing stairs/ladders; balancing; stooping; kneeling.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 lbs (individual or team lift as appropriate).
- Operate at heights up to 50 ft and wear required PPE.
Tools and tech you’ll use
- Warehouse Management Software and Quality Control Software
- Conveyor systems and associated power tools
- HVAC systems as applicable to facility maintenance
- Microsoft Excel and other basic computer tools
Your core strengths
- Equipment and mechanical troubleshooting
- Maintenance and repair execution
- Warehouse and distribution experience
