Pipe Tradesman Helper
Assists Pipefitter to assemble and install piping and piping systems, fixtures and equipment that carry water, steam, air or other fluids and gases. Essential Functions:
- Assists in selecting type and size of pipe and related materials according (such as pipe hangers &/or supports) to job specifications &/or blueprints.
- Cut holes in walls, ceilings or floors for piping.
- Assists Pipefitter to install pipe systems.
- Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets and hangers.
- May disassemble and remove defective fittings, gaskets & broken pipes.
- Load, transport, unload and furnish Pipefitter with materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
- May assist in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and workpieces during installation.
- Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
- The ability to perform job tasks while maintaining public health and safety at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Perform a variety of duties which may often change.
- Work within precise codes and standards of accuracy.
- Repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure.
- Evaluate information using measurable standards.
- Follow specific oral and written directions.
- High School diploma preferred and on-the-job training required.
- Visually see well (either naturally or with correction).
- Stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands and fingers.
- Use hands, arms, and fingers fully to reach for, handle and manipulate objects.
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding; and work at heights as required.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, crawl.
- Lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs, occasionally more weight.
