Purchasing Manager

We are seeking a motivated and strategic Purchasing Manager to lead our team in the procurement of commodities and ingredients. This role is a perfect fit for a proactive professional with strong negotiation skills and a knack for building lasting supplier relationships. You'll be responsible for ensuring we have the materials we need while helping us hit our goals for cost reduction, inventory turns, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the procurement process for new and existing commodities and ingredients, including those that are imported, ensuring a steady supply of materials to meet facility needs.

Mentor and develop the purchasing team, setting clear goals and performance standards.

Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and terms.

Proactively research and source new suppliers, products, and services to optimize our supply chain.

Monitor inventory levels daily and coordinate quarterly physical inventory counts to ensure accuracy.

Address and resolve all issues related to damages, shortages, and returns.

Review all internal and external documents for accuracy and adjust orders as needed to minimize excess inventory.

Oversee essential support services like janitorial and laundry to ensure plant-wide needs are met.

Analyze purchasing data and trends to provide strategic planning information.

Job Requirements

A strong understanding of inventory management and cost control principles.

The ability to solve problems and effectively manage multiple, shifting priorities.

A self-motivated and organized individual with excellent time management skills.

Exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
