Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Auditor for a temporary contract opportunity in Philadelphia, PA. This role will support a high-volume Form I-9 compliance audit for approximately 1,600 active employees within an energy and utilities environment.

The Compliance Auditor will play a key role in reviewing employment eligibility verification records, identifying compliance risks, documenting findings, and supporting remediation efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR compliance professional with hands-on I-9 audit experience who enjoys structured, detail-driven work and partnering with collaborative Human Resources and Talent Management teams.

This assignment offers the chance to contribute to an important organization-wide compliance initiative in a regulated industry where accuracy, confidentiality, and process discipline are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct a detailed audit of active employee Form I-9 records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with USCIS requirements.
- Review I-9 documentation to confirm proper completion, required timing, and adherence to federal employment eligibility verification rules.
- Identify errors, missing information, documentation gaps, and potential compliance risks.
- Maintain accurate audit tracking records and prepare summary reports outlining findings, status, and completion progress.
- Support corrective actions and remediation activities while protecting confidential employee information.
- Partner with Human Resources and Talent Management teams to resolve identified issues and support audit completion.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay rate: $24 per hour.
- Job type: Contract/Temporary.
- Assignment duration: 3 to 6 months.
- Location: Philadelphia, PA.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Perform a comprehensive Form I-9 compliance audit for approximately 1,600 active employee records.
- Review employment eligibility verification documentation for compliance with USCIS requirements.
- Identify, document, and report audit findings, discrepancies, and compliance risks.
- Support remediation activities in partnership with HR and Talent Management teams.

- Demonstrated experience conducting Form I-9 audits and employment eligibility verification reviews.
- Strong knowledge of USCIS Form I-9 rules, regulations, and recent regulatory changes.
- Understanding of electronic I-9 processes and documentation requirements.
- Experience interpreting federal employment eligibility requirements and identifying compliance concerns.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a high-volume audit process accurately.
- Excellent organizational skills, documentation skills, and follow-through.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant HR compliance, I-9 audit, or employment verification experience preferred based on role level.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting HR compliance audits within a large organization.
- Prior experience working with HRIS, onboarding, or electronic I-9 management systems.
- Experience in a regulated industry such as energy, utilities, government, or another highly compliant environment.
