About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our engineering team specializing in overhead lifting equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, specification, and review of structural components and systems including cranes, hoists, runways, and Below-the-Hook (BTH) devices. You’ll work on new designs as well as reverse-engineering existing systems, ensuring structural integrity, safety, and compliance with applicable standards.
This is a hands-on engineering role involving everything from concept design and calculations to detailed fabrication drawings and bills of material.

- Base Salary: $85,000 - $125,000

- Typical Hours : 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (average 45 hours per week)
(With early starts, off-shift work, and overtime as needed to support your team) - Out of Town Travel : Up to 15%

???? What You'll Do
- Design and analyze structural components for overhead crane systems, hoists, runway beams, supports, and below-the-hook (BTH) devices
- Reverse-engineer and evaluate existing crane structures and systems for upgrade, modification, or repair
- Design structural supports and foundations for new installations, retrofits, and complex integration projects
- Produce detailed engineering deliverables , including approval drawings, fabrication/shop drawings, connection details, and structural calculations
- Develop and maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs) for each project phase
- Ensure code compliance , adhering to relevant industry and safety standards (ASME, CMAA, AISC, AWS, OSHA, etc.)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, estimators, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure seamless execution from concept to completion
- Provide engineering support during manufacturing, field installation, and system commissioning
- Participate in project reviews, client calls, and on-site meetings as needed to confirm technical alignment and successful project delivery
- Continuously improve design processes by implementing best practices and contributing to internal knowledge libraries
✅ Your Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline from an ABET-accredited institution (required)
- Structural PE license or EIT certification (preferred or in-progress)
- 2+ years of experience in structural design, ideally involving cranes, hoists, lifting equipment, or industrial structures
- Experience working with steel fabrication, load path analysis, and finite element modeling (FEM software a plus)
- Familiarity with rigging, BTH devices, and overhead crane design is highly desirable
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and electrical schematics
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written—able to simplify complex concepts for diverse stakeholders
- Strong working knowledge of structural codes and standards (ASME B30, AISC, AWS D1.1, CMAA, OSHA, etc.)
- Proficient in CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent), with strong drafting and detailing capabilities
- Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, STAAD, SAP2000, or equivalent) is a plus
- Positive, solution-oriented attitude and a high degree of accountability
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and real-world field constraints
