Emergency Veterinarian Mentorship Program

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA is proud to offer our Emergency Veterinarian Mentorship Training Program, EmERge . Our EmERge program helps you obtain the skills and the confidence that you need to be a successful Emergency Veterinarian at one of our state-of-the-art hospitals. The program is offered beginning in January and in June annually.

What you Need to be considered for BluePearl’s EmERge program:

• You must be a graduate of an AVMA accredited veterinary school.
• You must have passed (or pending) the NAVLE.
• You must have (or be eligible for) a license to practice in the state of interest.

Program Structure :

EmERge is a one-year training program, followed by a one-year post-EmERge commitment. The EmERge program is divided into 3 phases:

Phase 1 (Weeks 1-14):

• 4 Weeks of Bootcamp : A combination of virtual (Weeks 1-2) and in-person (Weeks 3-4) training to build foundational emergency medicine skills.
• 2 Weeks of Specialty Rotations : Gain exposure to various specialties to enhance your understanding and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
• 8 Weeks of ER Shifts : Apply your training in a real-world setting under the mentorship of experienced emergency clinicians.

Phase 2 (Weeks 15-32):

• Increased Responsibility : Transition to managing more complex cases with greater independence while still receiving guidance from mentors.
• ER Shift Focus : Work full shifts in the ER, continuing to develop critical thinking and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Ongoing Mentorship : Regular check-ins with mentors to review cases, address challenges, and refine clinical skills.
• Exposure to Diverse Cases : Handle a variety of emergency cases to broaden expertise and build confidence in emergency medicine.
• Ongoing Didactics : Participate in a weekly webinar series designed to enhance your learning and keep you updated on the latest practices in emergency veterinary medicine.

Phase 3 (Weeks 33-52):

• Independent Case Management : Take on full responsibility for managing emergency cases, showcasing confidence and competence in clinical decision-making.
• Continued Collaboration : Work alongside the hospital team to provide exceptional patient care while honing leadership and communication skills.
• Advanced Skill Application : Apply advanced diagnostic and procedural skills gained throughout the program to handle high-acuity cases.
• Mentor Support : Maintain access to mentor guidance as needed, ensuring continued growth and support.
• Ongoing Didactics : Participate in a weekly webinar series designed to enhance your learning and keep you updated on the latest practices in emergency veterinary medicine.

BluePearl is proud to offer real-world salary for EmERge :

• Phase one salary (Weeks 1-14): $120,000
• Phase two salary (Weeks 15-32): $120,000
• Phase three salary (Weeks 33-52): full-time ER Clinician market rate salary plus quarterly production bonus

• Comprehensive multi-specialty and referral hospital in Western Pennsylvania with over 30 specialists in 10 different specialties.
