MHP hiring a full time Staff Accountant who will be responsible for financial preparation, program invoicing, budgeting, bank and account reconciliations, bi-weekly payroll and general ledger system maintenance.
The position is located at 833 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107, with a hybrid in-office/work from home schedule, Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with a starting salary range of $60,000 to $70,000 annually. As an MHP full-time employee, you will have access to the following benefits:

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payables and receivables.
• Reviews Accounts Receivable and Payable Aging reports monthly to positively impact cash flows.
• Perform bank account reconciliations, resolving all discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Prepare invoices for funders on a monthly or quarterly basis as required and work to resolve payment discrepancies.
• Credit card management through vendor portal, monitoring all approvals and full functionality of the program.
• Approve debits in banking portal for the Representative Payee program.
• Add and edit vendors for Representative Payee Program.
• Reviews Accounts Receivable and Aging and discuss options with department lead.
• Provide vendor management and compliance related support to the agency.
• Produce error-free accounting reports with analysis and results as needed.
• Support month-end and year-end close process by supporting the director in the monthly divisional meetings.
• Support Billing staff in preparing and submitting participant billings to appropriate agencies
• Analyzes programs to ensure accurate revenue recognition and allocations.
• Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
• Maintains compliance with all MHP policies and procedures. Reports known conduct taken by any MHP employee (including yourself) which violates any MHP policy or law on which you have been trained, or should know of, such as laws criminalizing theft or violent crimes, and reports the matter to management or to the Director – Quality Improvement & Compliance and/or Human Resources.
• Other duties as assigned to fulfill MHP’s mission.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in accounting or related function.
• 2+ years of experience in accounting.
• Experience with accounting software required; experience with MIP is a plus.
• Experience in behavioral health services is a plus.
• Experience with Electronic Health Record systems and knowledge of billing practices is a plus
• Must possess basic computer skills to perform job duties including desktop computing, e-mail, time sheet management, electronic health records, accounting software, internet research, etc. using relevant software. Advanced skillset in Microsoft Excel required.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Strong skillsets in oral and written communication, crisis management, de-escalation, cultural competence, interpersonal relationships and teamwork, attention to detail, customer service, time management, autonomy, problem solving and organization. Must be honesty and trustworthy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with compensation data and sensitive financial matters.
• Patience, tact, ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of individuals including people in addiction and/or mental health recovery.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
