Mainframe MQ Systems Engineer / MQ Administrator - NY, NJ, PA, or FL
Location: New York, NY / New Jersey / Pittsburgh, PA / Lake Mary, FL (Open to Remote during contract phase, but requires 4+ days onsite once converted to FTE)

Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Mainframe MQ Systems Engineer / MQ Administrator to support and manage enterprise-level MQ infrastructure across both z/OS mainframe and distributed environments. This role demands strong expertise in MQ administration, infrastructure provisioning, certificate management, MQ Clusters, and Queue Sharing Groups , with a high level of ownership and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with application teams to recommend and implement optimal MQ solutions.
Provision and maintain MQ infrastructure on mainframe z/OS and distributed platforms .
Configure and support MQ Queue Sharing Groups , clusters , channel authentication , TLS certificates , and stream queues .
Respond to and resolve MQ-related alerts and incidents.
Participate in and support DR (Disaster Recovery) activities and mainframe IPL events .
Contribute to change management processes, capacity planning, and incident resolution.
Provide insights into MQ-related application dependencies; understanding of COBOL or Java on z/OS is a plus.
Troubleshoot CICS logs and support MQ DR events and upgrades on the mainframe.
Maintain adherence to security practices, including channel authentication and security exits .
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent work experience); advanced degree preferred.
8+ years of MQ administration experience in a z/OS mainframe environment.
Proven expertise in:
MQ Queue Sharing Groups
MQ Clusters with mainframe Queue Manager members
TLS Certificate Management
Channel Authentication and Security Exits
Understanding of application integration with MQ on mainframe (COBOL, C, or Java preferred).
Familiarity with mainframe capacity planning , change management , and DR processes .
Prior experience in the financial services industry is a strong plus.
Strong multitasking skills and ability to deliver under time constraints.
Note: This role begins as a contract and transitions to FTE. Remote work is allowed during the contract phase, but onsite presence (4+ days/week) is required post-conversion.
