Tow Truck Operator (Flatbed/Wrecker)

Position Summary:

MrKitt’s Service Center & Towing is hiring a professional, experienced Tow Truck Operator with a minimum of 3 years’ experience and strong customer service skills. This role requires full knowledge of operating both flatbed and wheel lift tow trucks, a clean 5-year driving record, and the ability to safely and efficiently respond to breakdowns, accident recoveries, private property impounds, and scheduled tows.

We are looking for a reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious operator who takes pride in professionalism, punctuality, and quality service.

Key Responsibilities:

Towing & Recovery:

• Operate flatbed (rollback) and wheel-lift tow trucks safely and efficiently.
• Perform light- to medium-duty towing, including accident recovery, breakdown assistance, and private impound requests.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload vehicles without causing damage.
• Use proper equipment: baby J chains, soft straps, dollies, winch systems, and tie-downs (4-point minimum)

Dispatch & Response:

• Respond promptly to calls from dispatch, customers, and police requests.
• Navigate efficiently using GPS and mobile dispatch apps.
• Maintain clear, professional communication with dispatch and customers.

Documentation:

• Accurately complete tow tickets, damage documentation, and condition reports.
• Use tablet or mobile app for digital ticketing, photo documentation, and time-stamping.
• Collect payments when applicable and follow company protocols.

Customer Service:

• Provide a respectful, calm, and courteous experience for all customers—even in high-stress situations
• Assist stranded motorists, answer basic vehicle-related questions, and represent MrKitt’s brand with integrity
• Wear proper uniform and maintain a clean appearance and truck at all times

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating flatbed and wheel-lift tow trucks.
• Valid PA driver’s license with a clean 5-year MVR.
• Current and valid DOT Medical Card (required)
• Proven ability to operate towing equipment safely and without incident.
• Must be familiar with Philadelphia streets and surrounding counties.
• Strong customer service skills and calm demeanor under pressure.
• Available for rotating on-call shifts, nights, and some weekends.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in all weather conditions.
• Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus.

Preferred (but not required):

• Experience in accident scene recovery and vehicle storage yard procedure.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
• Experience using digital dispatch systems.
