Safety Superintendent – Heavy Civil Construction

Philadelphia Suburbs, PA

A well-established heavy civil construction firm in the Philadelphia suburbs is seeking an experienced Safety Superintendent to lead field safety operations on large-scale infrastructure projects including bridges, highways, and roadway improvements .

This is a hands-on, field-focused role responsible for ensuring safe work practices across multiple active job sites while supporting project teams in maintaining compliance and building a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and enforce site safety programs on bridge, highway, and heavy civil projects
• Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, PennDOT, MUTCD , and company safety standards
• Coordinate work zone traffic control and roadway safety measures
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations; develop corrective actions
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety orientations, and site-specific training
• Support superintendents and foremen with safe work planning and job hazard analyses
• Maintain safety documentation, reports, and regulatory records
• Serve as the primary safety point of contact for field crews and management

Qualifications
• 5+ years of safety experience in heavy civil construction
• Strong background in bridge, highway, and roadway construction
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and MUTCD standards
• Experience with excavation, utilities, concrete, steel, and heavy equipment operations
•Ability to work full-time in the field across multiple job sites
• Strong communication and leadership skills
