As a Software Engineering Manager Sr in Enterprise Technology, you are a major part of promoting this culture. The team being managed may be hybrid and you must be comfortable interacting with employees, business partners, and software vendors who may be in person or remote – including offshore - while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and communication.

This position is primarily based in a location within PNC's footprint. Responsibilities require time in the office or in a field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities can be performed remotely. Additional locations may be considered.

You will oversee a team of Software Engineers using Python to automate business processes and reporting while integrating extensively with services in the PNC environment. As a member of technology leadership, you will provide guidance on best practices to ensure solutions adhere to safety, soundness, resiliency, maintainability, and observability requirements. You will represent your team in discussions with the business and other technology stakeholders, sharing achievements and highlighting challenges to your success.

To excel as a Software Engineering Manager Sr. at PNC you will need a fundamental understanding of software delivery and support in an Agile environment, principles of IT Service Management, and a proactive mindset to identify and cure problems before they become more impactful. You must also serve as a career mentor, helping to educate and motivate Software Engineers to ensure consistent performance and growth while identifying training opportunities and skills gaps.

Job Description
Manage a group of software engineers/managers across multiple product lines.
Oversee the talent management of engineering talent, including recruiting, mentoring, and enabling a culture of learning with a focus on engineering craftsmanship.
Foster technological innovation, ensuring adoption of current trends, capabilities, and practices emerging in the market. Encourage sound technology choices are made and drive innovative technology architecture and solution design.
Identify issues, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement.

Work Experience Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Industry-relevant experience is typically 8+ years. At least 5 years of prior management experience is typically required. Proven leadership experience with a moderate to large scope of responsibility is required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
