Job Summary: The Mobile Market Manager will oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Mobile Market programming daily operations, which provides fresh, healthy, and affordable food to individuals and families facing food insecurity. This position involves working closely with community partners, farmers, volunteers, and program participants to ensure smooth operations, effective distribution, and the successful delivery of services to underserved areas. The Operator will also monitor program performance, contribute to planning, and help foster strong relationships with community stakeholders to ensure long-term success and sustainability.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Program Management & Coordination:
· Manages daily operations of the Mobile Market, ensuring food is distributed on time and accurately to those in need.
· Handles set-up and tear-down of the market at each location.
· Plans routes, schedules, and manages food inventory for the mobile market.
· Works with local farmers and food suppliers to provide fresh, healthy food.
· Keeps track of inventory and ensures enough food and supplies are available.
· Maintains records of deliveries, food distribution, and inventory for reports and program evaluation.
· Ensures food safety and quality throughout transportation and at each market location.
Team Leadership & Volunteer Coordination:
· Supervises farmers and volunteers at mobile market events, ensuring smooth operations, customer service, and food safety.
· Recruits, trains, and manages volunteers, providing ongoing support.
· Organizes volunteer schedules and ensures proper staffing at each market stop.
· Mentors volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
Community Engagement:
· Builds relationships with local organizations, businesses, and government agencies to expand the Mobile Market’s reach.
· Acts as a liaison between the program and community, addressing concerns and gathering feedback.
· Organizes and attends events to promote the program and raise awareness.
· Collaborates with the Development Team on outreach materials (flyers, social media, newsletters) to boost participation.
· Promotes the program through social media, local media, and community channels.
Financial Management:
· Operate the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate transactions, proper cash handling, and end-of-shift drawer reconciliation.
Technology Proficiency
· Utilizes technology proficiently, including payment systems, computer systems, Microsoft Excel and Word, and other web-based programs.
Preforms all duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
· 2-3 years of experience managing community programs, preferably in food insecurity, farming, nutrition education, foodservice, social services, or public health.
· Bachelor’s degree in social work, nutrition, public health, agriculture, nonprofit management, or related field, or equivalent program management experience preferred.
· SERV Safe Manager Certification preferred.
· Customer service experience preferred.
