Veterinary Assistant and Technician

The Big Easy Animal Hospital , an independently owned veterinary practice, located in Upper Lawrenceville, is currently looking for motivated, talented, and compassionate Veterinary Nurses as well as Veterinary Nursing Assistants to join our team. We are looking to fill a full and part time position as we continue to expand. Our Ideal Candidate should have excellent relevant expeirience, good client communication and above all, meet our core values. • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
• Handle animals safely and confidently using proper restraint techniques, including animal catheterization and handling.
• Perform laboratory work such as sample collection, processing, and analysis to support diagnostic efforts.
• Maintain accurate records of animal treatments, laboratory results, and radiographs (X-ray procedures), ensuring compliance with clinic protocols.
• Support pet owners with pet care advice, grooming, feeding, and basic training to promote optimal animal health.
• Operate veterinary equipment proficiently, including dental tools with knowledge of dental terminology and performing dental cleanings or procedures.
• Assist in radiography (X-ray) procedures by positioning animals correctly to obtain clear images for diagnosis.
• Contribute to critical care situations by monitoring vital signs and supporting veterinary technicians during emergencies or intensive treatments.
• Ensure the safety of animals through effective restraint during examinations or procedures while maintaining a Stress- Free, calm environment.

• Prior kennel experience or animal handling background is a MUST.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and pet care practices.
• Experience with laboratory techniques relevant to veterinary diagnostics is preferred.
• Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to pet dentistry is a plus.
• Hands-on veterinary technician experience OR related certifications is a MUST.
• Ability to perform animal catheterization and implement aseptic techniques accurately.
• Strong dog handling skills along with proficiency in animal restraint methods is a MUST.
• Experience working with X-ray equipment and understanding of radiographic safety protocols is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting professionally with pet owners and team members is a MUST. Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
