Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily restaurant operations, including financial performance, team leadership, food quality, guest satisfaction, inventory management, and compliance with company standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to building a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
Manage the day-to-day operations of the restaurant.
Ensure outstanding food quality, presentation, and speed of service.
Maintain brand standards and operational procedures.
Ensure restaurant cleanliness, organization, and maintenance at all times.
Oversee opening, closing, and cash handling procedures.
Leadership & Team Development
Recruit, interview, hire, train, coach, and develop team members.
Create employee schedules based on business needs.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive coaching.
Foster a positive, respectful, and high-energy work environment.
Build a culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and guest service.
Guest Experience
Deliver exceptional customer service and promptly resolve guest concerns.
Build relationships with guests and encourage repeat business.
Maintain high online review scores and guest satisfaction metrics.
Financial Management
Meet or exceed sales, profitability, and labor targets.
Control food, beverage, and labor costs.
Analyze financial reports and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
Manage budgets and achieve operational goals.
Inventory & Purchasing
Maintain proper inventory levels.
Minimize food waste and control product loss.
Place vendor orders and verify deliveries.
Ensure accurate inventory counts and reporting.
Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all health department regulations.
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
Ensure OSHA, company, and local regulatory compliance.
Maintain required certifications and restaurant documentation.
Marketing & Community Engagement
Support local marketing initiatives.
Develop relationships within the local community.
Help increase sales through catering, promotions, and community events.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Experience
Minimum 3–5 years of restaurant management experience.
At least 2 years as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager in a high-volume quick-service or fast-casual restaurant.
Proven experience managing:
Labor costs
Food costs
Inventory
Scheduling
Hiring and training
Profit & Loss statements
Experience leading teams of 20–50 employees preferred.
Experience with restaurant POS systems and inventory software.
Strong understanding of food safety regulations and restaurant operations.
