Part-time/Full-Time Bakery/Deli Associate

The Bakery & Deli Associate is the face of our bakery and deli, providing exceptional customer service while creating a welcoming shopping experience. This role is responsible for serving customers, maintaining attractive bakery and deli displays, stocking merchandise, preparing made-to-order items, and ensuring the department remains clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Greet every guest with a friendly, positive attitude.
• Assist customers with bakery and deli purchases, answer product questions, and make recommendations.
• Prepare made-to-order sandwiches and other deli items.
• Package, label, and restock fresh bakery and deli products.
• Maintain clean, full, and visually appealing displays throughout the department.
• Monitor product freshness and rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
• Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately process customer transactions as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and service counters while following food safety and sanitation standards.
• Assist with receiving deliveries, stocking inventory, and organizing storage areas.
• Support other departments during busy periods as needed.
• Represent the Soergel's brand by creating a warm, welcoming experience for every guest.

Qualifications

• Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Previous bakery, deli, food service, or retail experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Staff members will be standing on their feet during their entire shift.
• Light to moderate lifting of 25 lbs. or less, occasionally heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Noise level may be high at times when we are busy, especially because of children.

Equipment Used:

• Knives, scales, rolling carts, rolling pie and bread racks, ovens, cash register, computers, card board crusher, donut machine, pricing guns, and mixers. Other equipment may be introduced as well.

Job Status:

• Part-Time: Weekdays and weekends, morning and afternoons
