Headquartered in Pennsylvania, TLC operates across multiple states, providing K-12 alternative education, comprehensive mental and behavioral health services, coaching, counseling, and trauma-informed training. Additionally, TLC collaborates with school districts, universities, hospitals, police departments, and nonprofit organizations, offering consultation services to secure federal and state grant funding.
Position Summary:
The Behavioral Health Liaison will be embedded with the Coatesville Police Department, leading the proposed diversion services, providing case management support, and assisting in developing training sessions for the criminal justice system, the behavioral health system, and community partners.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- At the request of the Coatesville Police Department, responding on-scene to incidents involving people with suspected opioid use disorder to encourage them to enroll in treatment services.
- Performing outreach following police incidents involving individuals with suspected OUD and co-occurring disorders to encourage and motivate residents to enroll in treatment.
- Working with the justice system to help encourage individuals who have been arrested on opioid-related charges to pursue treatment to prevent further involvement in the justice system.
- Performing intensive outreach to individuals who have survived multiple overdoses to encourage and motivate them to enroll in treatment services and connect them to community resources to address their co-occurring disorders and the underlying challenges that contribute to their OUD.
Providing case management support for individuals engaged in diversion services to assist them in accessing supportive services and community resources. Linking family members of individuals with OUD to community resources that will help to strengthen their formal support network to address the family's needs and aid in their loved one’s recovery.
- Serving as a community connector to facilitate and strengthen communication between the justice system and behavioral health system.
- Assisting in the development and facilitation of trainings related to OUD, SUD, trauma-informed practices, improving system collaboration, and improving outcomes for individuals with OUD.
- Participating in ongoing data collection, evaluation, and continuous program improvement.
Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a similar field.
- Licensed in Pennsylvania, preferred.
- Trained as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP)
- Experience serving individuals with opioid use disorder and/or substance use disorder.
- Experience serving individuals with co-occurring disorders strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system, preferred.
- Lived experience with OUD or SUD, or having been impacted by the justice system, preferred
- Experience in crisis intervention.
- Experience building and strengthening community relationships.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, strongly preferred.
Availability & Work environment: This is a full-time, exempt position.
