Well-established, mission-driven organization in Lancaster County is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations and support strategic decision-making. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this leadership role will be responsible for accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, compliance, audit coordination, and internal controls. The Controller will also partner closely with senior leadership and provide financial insights that support organizational growth and long-term success.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end and year-end close processes, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for executive leadership and board committees, highlighting key financial results and trends.
• Manage cash flow, liquidity, and treasury activities while providing regular updates on the organization's financial position.
• Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, resolve aging items, and ensure timely collections and payments.
• Maintain financial records for grants and contracts, including budget monitoring and post-award financial tracking.
• Assist with the development and management of annual operating, capital, reserve, and trust fund budgets.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide recommendations based on financial performance.
• Strengthen and maintain internal controls, policies, and financial procedures to ensure compliance and protect organizational assets.
• Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and tax professionals during annual audit and tax preparation activities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while promoting accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with departments across the organization to improve financial processes, reporting capabilities, and system efficiencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Progressive accounting and financial management experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience managing audits, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and communicate findings to senior leadership.
• Experience supervising and developing accounting teams.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• CPA designation and nonprofit or grant accounting experience are a plus.
