Bastia is a Sardinian and Corsican restaurant in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. We are located in the beautiful Hotel Anna & Bel, which is a 50-room hotel in the historic former Penn Home. Both the hotel and restaurant opened in August, 2024. We butcher whole animals, make bread in-house, have an extensive handmade pasta program, and maintain close relationships with farmers in the region.

The restaurant has opened to wide acclaim, including the highest 4-star rating from Jason Sheehan of Philadelphia Magazine, and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal among other national publications.

Job Description: Server

The Role

Servers at Bastia are responsible for delivering excellence in guest service by developing relationships with guests, providing personalized service, serving guest’s orders and anticipating guests’ needs.We are searching for attentive, friendly, energetic, highly-motivated individuals who will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Take full accountability for people, product, and profit in the hotel.
• Provide excellent, courteous, and professional service to internal and external guests.
• Enliven the hotel culture in all aspects of the business.
• Ensure cleanliness and safety of work areas, performing opening and closing procedures.
• Adhere to procedures for bar tabs, table transfers, and accurate cash/credit handling.
• Upsell food and beverage items, demonstrating extensive knowledge of alcoholic beverages and menu items.
• Check identification for age verification and monitor guest needs, including food service.
• Develop personalized relationships with guests and resolve complaints with hospitality and professionalism.
• Respond accurately and promptly to guest requests, ensuring a positive and memorable experience.
• Ensure compliance with hotel policies, SOPs, local laws, sanitation regulations, and conduct regular internal inspections for asset maintenance and protection.

Ideal Candidate

• Displays 1-3 years of proficiency in hotel operations, coupled with a robust understanding of food and beverage.
• Has a passion for hospitality, service, food and beverage.
• Exhibits flexibility for varying schedules, including weekends and holidays, with punctuality.
• Demonstrates a guest-responsive culture, standing/walking for extended periods.
• Utilizes proactive communication, organizational skills, and a passion for hospitality to exceed guest expectations and contribute positively to the team.

Requirements & Experience

• 1-3+ years of hospitality experience in full-service restaurants.
• Open availability including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to ongoing changes.
• Ability to inspire, motivate and develop employees.
• Ability to identify problems and solve them.
• Proven track record in building high-performance teams.
• Professional and confident verbal and written communication with guests, employees and ownership.
• ServSafe and RAMP certified preferred.
