Job Title: Drafter
Job Description

The Drafter plans mechanical drawings by reviewing sketches, descriptions, specifications, and supporting documents while collaborating with engineers and product designers. This role involves preparing mechanical sketches and drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) and pictorial techniques to produce two- and three-dimensional orthographic projections and 3-D models.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical sketches and drawings by rendering sectional, auxiliary, and multiviews, sub-assemblies, pictorials, dimensions, and developments.
• Develop applications and calculations for castings, forgings, stampings, machined components, and other mechanical elements.
• Produce fit specifications and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Analyze force systems in equilibrium involving loaded beams, columns, trusses, and joints.
• Resolve conflicts between various design options.
• Develop supporting information by creating bills of materials, standard parts, and fasteners.
• Modify drawings by analyzing and incorporating necessary changes.
• Document work by recording data and drawings and updating databases.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements by adhering to codes and regulations.
• Maintain equipment by adjusting hardware configurations and following established procedures.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.

• Experience with AutoCAD.
• 0-2 years of drafting experience.
• AS Degree is preferred.

• Experience in sheet metal design.
• An Associate's Degree is preferred but not required.

The work environment is a fabrication shop where trailers are built. The team consists of 3-4 drafters located in the middle of the manufacturing floor. The dress code is casual, including jeans. This small company offers potential for growth into a lead role.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr.
