• Location: Ottumwa, IA 52501 (Iowa healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Adult Behavioral Health Unit (BHU)
• Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel RN, contract nursing jobs)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,770 - $1,820
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/12/2025 – End: 1/11/2026)
• Patient Ratio: 1:6 (Average Daily Census: 7)
• Electronic Health Record: MediTech
• Float Requirements: May float to other units within a 25-mile radius

Qualifications – Psychiatric Registered Nurse

• Active Iowa RN license (Registered Nurse jobs in Iowa)
• ADN or BSN degree required
• Mandatory reporter certification (Child and Adult)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Behavioral Health or Psychiatric nursing
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Background checks (Iowa SING BG: Criminal and Child Abuse portions required)
• Drug screening: 10-panel including opiates
• Recent titers (MMR, Hep B, Varicella, TB) within the last 12 months
• Ability to start on Monday or Tuesday

Responsibilities – Behavioral Health RN

• Provide evidence-based, compassionate care to adult patients (ages 18-65) with psychiatric diagnoses including anxiety, depression, manic disorders, borderline personality disorder, and suicidal ideation
• Monitor and assess patient status, administer medications, and document care in MediTech EHR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Maintain patient safety and a therapeutic environment
• Educate, support, and advocate for patients and their families
• Float to other behavioral health units within a 25-mile radius as needed
