Job Title: Safety Technician

Summary:

Kuharchik Construction seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Safety Technician to collaborate directly with electrical construction crews to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This crucial role requires a strong understanding of electrical safety regulations, a proactive approach to hazard identification, and the ability to utilize data to drive continuous safety improvements. The successful candidate will be a key player in reducing incidents and fostering a culture of safety on our construction projects.

Responsibilities:

1. On-Site Safety Oversight & Collaboration:

a. Actively work alongside electrical construction crews, providing real-time safety guidance and support.

b. Conduct frequent job site inspections to identify and assess potential hazards

c. Collaborate with project managers and crew supervisors to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.

d. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations (OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, etc.).

e. Participate in pre-task planning meetings, providing input on safe work procedures and ensuring all personnel are appropriately trained.

2. Data-Driven Safety Analysis & Reporting:

a. Develop and maintain detailed records of safety inspections, near misses, incidents, and corrective actions.

b. Utilize data analysis techniques to identify trends, pinpoint high-risk activities, and track the effectiveness of safety initiatives.

c. Prepare comprehensive safety reports, including statistical analysis of key safety metrics (e.g., incident rates, injury severity, etc.).

d. Present findings and recommendations to management, proposing data-backed strategies for continuous safety improvement.

3. Training & Education:

a. Deliver or assist in the delivery of safety training to construction crews, covering topics such as electrical safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard recognition, and incident reporting.

b. Reinforce safe work practices through regular toolbox talks, ensuring all personnel understand and comply with safety procedures.

c. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.

4. Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis:

a. Investigate all incidents (accidents, injuries, near misses), conducting thorough root cause analyses to identify contributing factors.

b. Prepare detailed incident reports, providing recommendations to prevent recurrence. Ensure compliance with reporting requirements.

c. Collaborate with insurance providers to ensure accurate reporting and documentation.

5. Emergency Response:

a. Participate in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.

b. Ensure readily available and properly maintained emergency equipment (first aid, fire extinguishers, etc.).

Qualifications:

· Proven experience in electrical construction safety, ideally with experience directly working alongside crews.

· OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification and familiarity with electrical safety standards (NEC, NFPA 70E).

· Relevant electrical safety certifications (e.g., Arc Flash Training, etc.) highly desirable.

· Excellent understanding of safety regulations and industry best practices.

· Strong data analysis skills and experience utilizing data to improve safety outcomes.

· Ability to effectively communicate safety information and build positive relationships with workers at all levels.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
