Graduate Success Navigator
Job Description
Job Description
Job Description: The Graduate Success Navigator plays a central role in advancing graduate student persistence, academic success, and holistic support at Arcadia University. This position supports graduate students across all programs-particularly those in online and hybrid formats-by helping them develop the academic strategies, executive functioning skills, and self-regulated learning habits essential for success at the graduate level. While not a content expert in specific academic programs, the Navigator partners closely with graduate faculty and academic advisors to ensure students are supported beyond the classroom. They serve as a connector between graduate programs, student support services, and institutional partners to build a cohesive and proactive network of care for graduate learners. This position is designed to provide targeted guidance and interventions that reflect the unique realities of graduate education, especially for students navigating asynchronous and hybrid learning environments.
Location: Glenside
Responsibilities :
Graduate Student Support & Academic Skill Development:
- Provide one-on-one academic interventions for graduate students, with emphasis on executive functioning, task management, time management, study strategies, and adaptation to online/hybrid learning environments.
- Develop and lead workshops focused on graduate-level learning skills (e.g., academic writing, research strategies, learning how to learn at the graduate level).
- Serve as a visible and accessible resource for students across graduate programs, helping them navigate the university's support ecosystem.
- Collaborate with the Office of Academic Development to expand graduate-specific academic coaching and learning support services.
Intervention & Holistic Support:
- Serve as a key member of the Graduate CARE team, providing direct outreach, support planning, and coordinated interventions for students of concern.
- Track and monitor trends in student challenges and collaborate with affiliated service providers (2U, Risepoint, Wiley, etc.) to proactively identify and support students experiencing academic or personal difficulties.
- Coordinate Graduate Academic Standing communication with programs and organize the Graduate Academic Standing Appeals Committee.
Collaboration with Academic and Institutional Partners:
- Liaise with graduate program directors, chairs, and academic advisors to align support services with programmatic needs while maintaining a boundary from discipline-specific content.
- Partner with the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Mentoring to provide faculty development related to graduate student learning, particularly in executive functioning, engagement, and online learning.
- Support the creation of cross-curricular faculty development initiatives such as seminars, teaching and learning communities, and peer exchanges-especially those highlighting inclusive pedagogy and digital learning tools.
- Assist in the development and implementation of graduate student retention strategies based on institutional data and student feedback.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, educational psychology, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Experience working with graduate students or adult learners in academic support, coaching, or student affairs contexts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of executive functioning challenges, learning strategies, and online/hybrid learning environments.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with learning management systems, digital academic tools, and data-informed intervention practices.
Application Instructions :
- Applications must be submitted online through Arcadia's Human Resources portal to receive full consideration. Please do not email application materials to the hiring manager. Due to the volume of applications received, communication will generally be limited to candidates selected for additional consideration.
- Application review will begin immediately. Posting will be removed from the website once we've established a sufficient talent pool for consideration.
