Quality Inspector
- Understand and abide by all Company safety rules, regulations, and policies. Ensure that safe and sanitary working conditions are maintained in the facility in accordance with Company standards, as well as state & federal laws and regulations. Know and understand your OSHA rights. Conduct safety training topics as required or needed. Responsible for attending all assigned safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions. As required, promptly investigate accidents and near misses, completing appropriate reports and taking action to eliminate root causes.
- Report immediately to the Plant Manager, Plant Superintendent, or Shift Supervisor any injury, unsafe act or condition, or any failure of plant equipment.
- Perform in-process and finished product inspections to ensure they meet Victaulic specifications. Document inspection results by filling out reports and logs, summarizing rework and scrap, and entering data into quality databases. Notify management and supervision of any nonconformances or discrepancies.
- Actively participate in Scrap Reduction Program (SRP) by performing in-process inspection and pre-production audits as required.
- Instruct hourly personnel on proper use of computer systems to view and record data for job histories, requirement for jobs, hot inspection checks, etc.
- Instruct hourly personnel on the proper use of measuring equipment. Confirm its correct use during setup and production.
- Collaborate with production teams to identify quality issues and implement solutions. Provide feedback and recommendations for improving product quality and manufacturing processes.
- Assist in training production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and company procedures.
- Perform technical duties or special assignments as assigned by the Plant Manager, Quality Manager, or Plant Superintendent.
- Possess the authority to make disposition on and release product to next process including release to customer.
- High School graduate, or equivalent.
- 2-3 years of experience in a quality-related role preferred.
- Foundry experience preferred.
- Read and understand engineering procedures, drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects.
- Knowledge of quality control standards, inspection techniques, and testing methods.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Capable of working varying shifts, as designated, and occasional Saturdays or overtime during the week.
- Certification in Quality Assurance or Quality Control (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector) is a plus.
