PCA to CNA
JOB SUMMARY:
Will provide support services to residents and staff on the neighborhood. Assist with the day to day functioning of the nursing neighborhood.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Please number)
- Will be able to support services for residents and nursing
- Making unoccupied
- Passing water, ice, linen, meal trays,
- Clean closets, drawers, put residents clothes/other personal belongings away.
- Transport residents to therapy, activities, meals, church and may accompany them to outside
- Assist with meals ie; pouring beverages, passing trays, cutting up food and assisting with clean up after
- Will answer call bells and provide assistance as indicated and within scope of
- Ensure that linen and garbage have been removed from resident, shower and utility
- Empty soiled linen and garbage from the
- Labeling individual resident items as
- Fill ice cart at the beginning and end of each
- Stock resident rooms with with necessary
- Clean and sanitize shower chairs, mechanical lifts, vital sign poles, wheel chairs, oxygen filter and other equipment as
- Clean and organize clean utility, dirty utility, pantry and shower
- Restock linen carts as necessary
- Complete audits as assigned by the nurse in charge on the
- Replace water pitchers, urinals and bedpans as per
- Provide for residents privacy at all times, knocking before entering
- Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with residents assuring confidentiality of resident
- Attend in-service education programs as assigned/required.
- Practices careful, efficient and non-wasteful use of supplies and
- Will follow Wesbury dress
- Will maintain strict
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
- May be required to work rotating shifts in all
- All other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a clean, well heated, well lighted and well ventilated building. Prolonged standing and walking, repeated bending, squatting, stooping, exposure to all resident elements including infection, odors and to peculiarities in behavior and reactions of the elderly, assists with emergencies and in restraining violent or combative residents.
QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
High School graduate preferred. Previous experience in hospital or nursing home preferred. Sense of responsibility, moral integrity and common sense. Sincere desire to work with elderly. Patience and compassion essential. Pleasant, cheerful, tactful, courteous when handling residents and/or families. Ability to cooperate with other personnel. Ability to treat patient information confidential. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat of harm to themselves, others or property. Must adhere to Wesbury' personnel policies and practices including, but not limited to, the attendance requirements.
SUPERVISION GIVEN:
Assists with training of newly hired PCA's.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Director of Nursing following established procedures.
