About the role
The Quality Assurance Analyst role executes Quality Assurance related tasks for Pharmacy Quality Assurance (QA). This role works closely with and under the leadership of the Pharmacist in Charge to ensure that procedural and operational practices are executed consistently and effectively, meeting all regulatory requirements while supporting business needs through proactive, efficient, standardized quality processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage Quality Assurance Program:
- Complete or assign audits
- Review and upload documents into Quality Management System (QMS)
- Completion of Nonconformance (NC) and Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA) reports
- Aggregation and trending of audit results, survey results, NCs, CAPAs, etc and create monthly presentation
- Annual summary quality meeting presentation
- Manage shipping temperature validations
- Manage annual mock recall
- Manage testing program for compounded drugs and API
- Manage compounded drug retain program
- Respond to temperature alerts in temperature monitoring software
- Maintain Inspection Binders with updated SOPs and Pharmacy Documentation
- Support Pharmacist in Charge during pharmacy inspections
- Become intimately familiar with all SOPs and help identify gaps in compliance
- Become a pharmacy technician to work in that role and learn facility processes
- All activities will be performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Filling individual prescription orders both manually and with the aid of a semi-automated counting device prior to final verification by a pharmacist.
- Cassette filling of semi-automated counting device.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Packing orders for shipping.
- Fulfilling over the counter orders in the adjacent warehouse.
- Checking inventory into the pharmacy and inventory management systems.
- Routinely checking for and quarantining outdated medications.
- Any other work assigned by a manager or pharmacist.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and compliant documentation
- Demonstrated ethical conduct; serves as a role model for quality and compliance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight timelines
- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive issues to resolution
- Proficiency in Google applications (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
- Ability to take direction, provide input, and recognize when to escalate or seek collaboration to ensure high-quality outcomes
- Perform effectively as a member of a larger team
- Dedication to punctuality and low absenteeism
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to pass FBI background check and get registered with Pennsylvania as a pharmacy technician trainee.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience, such as certification/registration and professional practice as a Pharmacy Technician (required)
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in a related field: Chemistry, Biology, Health Administration, Animal Health, Business, Nursing, Pharmacy, Microbiology, Supply Chain
- Minimum of 1-3 years of related experience with exposure to quality, supply chain management (distribution) and/or pharmaceuticals or combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Certified Quality Professional (CQE, CQA, etc.) a plus
- Lean Six Sigma (or other Continuous Improvement) certification a plus
- Must be able to read on computer screen, hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, walk and stand for extended periods of time, operate computer & telephone, and occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
