Vice President, Marketing and Distribution
Job Description:
A property and casualty insurance company is seeking a Vice President of Marketing and Distribution. The Vice President of Marketing and Distribution leads the organization’s growth by shaping marketing strategy, creating and strengthening agency relationships, and building a compelling company brand. This role drives revenue and profitability through targeted marketing initiatives, agency incentives and compensation programs, and performance management, while leveraging market insights and competitive intelligence to capitalize on opportunities. Partnering with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, the VP also champions employee development and ensures the company’s distribution network consistently delivers positive results. This is a retained search.
Strategic Marketing and Growth Planning - Lead the development and execution of strategic and operational plans to achieve profit and growth objectives, leveraging market insights, competitive intelligence, and collaboration with underwriting and actuarial teams. Contribute to annual budget planning by recommending profit and growth goals for products and territories.
Agency Development and Performance Management - Manage the full lifecycle of agency relationships, including prospecting, appointment, rehabilitation and termination of agents. Design and implement segmentation, incentive, and compensation programs that improve agent performance and align distribution efforts with business goals.
Brand and Marketing Management - Oversee marketing initiatives, including the creation and distribution of materials and campaigns that promote company products and services. Conduct market research to understand customer and agent needs, and develop a strong company brand that drives growth and profitability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Leadership - Partner with senior management and cross-functional teams to ensure marketing and distribution strategies are effectively executed and aligned with company objectives. Facilitate collaboration across underwriting, actuarial and other departments to maximize business results.
People Development and Mentoring - Coach, mentor, and develop team members to build a high-performing marketing and distribution organization. Promote a culture of learning, accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
10+ years of experience in the insurance industry, with a strong preference for personal lines insurance
5+ years of progressive management experience, including leading teams and driving business results
Proven experience working with the independent agency distribution system
Demonstrated ability to balance growth and profitability, with a strategic focus beyond pure sales
Preferred experience using insurance and CRM platforms, specifically Guidewire InsuranceNow and Salesforce
