Employee Benefits Paralegal
We are partnering with a well-established law firm to identify an experienced Employee Benefits & ERISA Paralegal to support a busy legal team handling complex benefits, insurance, and union-related matters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania .
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working on technically complex matters involving benefit plans, regulatory compliance, and benefits administration in a collaborative legal environment. Position: Employee Benefits & ERISA Paralegal About The Role The paralegal will assist attorneys with a wide range of employee benefits and ERISA matters , including retirement and welfare plans, compliance obligations, and benefit administration issues. The position involves significant interaction with plan administrators, clients, and third-party vendors, as well as maintaining compliance with federal regulatory requirements. Responsibilities- Assist attorneys with ERISA and employee benefits matters
- Support work involving qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and executive compensation arrangements
- Prepare and organize plan documents, summary plan descriptions, amendments, and related filings
- Assist with benefit distributions, plan administration matters, and compliance tracking
- Coordinate insurance-related benefit issues and communications with carriers
- Support union-related benefit and expense matters as needed
- Conduct legal research related to ERISA compliance and benefits regulations
- Monitor deadlines and regulatory requirements involving DOL and IRS compliance
- Maintain organized electronic and physical files
- Communicate with clients, trustees, administrators, and vendors
- Assist with audits, due diligence reviews, and internal investigations related to benefit plans
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal experience required
- 3+ years of employee benefits or ERISA experience
- Experience working with union benefit plans and benefit administration preferred
- Strong understanding of ERISA regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience handling insurance-related benefit matters strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems
