Senior Project Manager

Allen Architectural Metals
Pittsburgh, PA

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee the execution of architectural metal projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This role requires a proactive leader with a solid track record in managing construction projects, a deep understanding of architectural metalwork, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams. The Project Manager will drive project success from initiation to closeout, ensuring clear communication, efficient resource management, and adherence to safety protocols.

Location: Open to candidates residing anywhere within the continental United States.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution:

  • Project Development & Strategy: Lead the planning and execution of architectural metal projects, aligning with client goals, technical specifications, and organizational objectives. Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and direct project teams, including field superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders, to ensure smooth project execution. Foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate labor, materials, and equipment effectively to meet project timelines and budget constraints. Anticipate resource needs and coordinate with procurement to secure necessary supplies and tools.

Client & Stakeholder Management:

  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication regarding project progress, milestones, challenges, and any scope changes. Build and sustain strong relationships to enhance client satisfaction.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., engineering, safety, procurement) and external stakeholders (e.g., subcontractors, vendors) to ensure alignment on project requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Change Management: Manage project scope changes, including change orders and design modifications, ensuring proper documentation and client alignment. Communicate impacts to schedule and budget effectively.

Safety & Quality Management:

  • Safety Oversight: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards throughout all project phases. Work closely with the safety team to perform risk assessments, conduct safety audits, and promote a safety-first culture on all job sites.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all work meets required specifications and complies with safety codes and regulatory standards. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety adherence.
  • Incident Investigation & Reporting: Investigate any accidents, near misses, or safety incidents, document findings, and implement corrective actions. Share lessons learned across teams to prevent recurrence.

Financial & Schedule Management:

  • Budget Oversight: Develop and manage project budgets, track costs, and ensure projects remain within financial constraints. Review and analyze financial reports regularly, adjusting as necessary to address cost overruns or savings opportunities.
  • Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and any delays are promptly communicated and mitigated. Monitor project timelines to proactively address potential delays.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including safety, financial, technical, and schedule risks. Maintain a risk register and develop contingency plans for unforeseen challenges.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Progress Reports: Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management, including updates on progress, risks, financial performance, and any issues requiring resolution.
  • Documentation: Ensure all project documentation—contracts, change orders, schedules, meeting minutes, safety records—is complete, accurate, and properly stored for future reference.
  • Post-Project Closeout: Lead the project closeout process, ensuring all deliverables are completed, documentation is finalized, and any punch-list items are addressed. Participate in lessons-learned meetings to evaluate project performance and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications / Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience managing architectural metal projects or construction projects.
  • Experience in managing project teams and working with diverse stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and vendors.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to manage projects from conception through completion, with a strong understanding of architectural metalwork, fabrication processes, and construction techniques.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, resolve conflicts, and maintain open, transparent communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Financial Acumen: Solid understanding of budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis. Ability to track project expenditures and ensure projects are completed within budget.
  • Safety & Quality Focus: Knowledge of safety regulations, quality standards, and best practices in construction and metal fabrication. Ability to enforce safety and quality standards across teams and job sites.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project), scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Certifications (Preferred):

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • OSHA certification (30-hour or equivalent).
  • LEED accreditation or equivalent.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with company matching.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement within a growing company.
  • A collaborative, supportive work environment that values safety and quality above all.
