Position Summary:
The Shipping Supervisor provides day-to-day supervision to Shipping employees

Essential Functions:

  • Manages the coordination of logistics and shipping companies for pickups and deliveries
  • Serves as point of contact for logistics and crating of shipments
  • Leads and manages all Shipping personnel through candidate selection, interviewing, onboarding, and employee training
  • Monitors team member performance through coaching, counseling, and, when necessary disciplining employees
  • Schedules and assigns employee tasks
  • Determines methods of packaging for various products
  • Provides quotes to customer or Accounting team by estimating final size and weight of system shipments
  • Communicates with other departments regarding specific customer requirements on methods of packaging for shipments
  • Maintains physical condition of department by planning and implementing design layouts, periodically inspects current equipment, and creates requisitions for repair or replacement
  • Oversees and enforces the safe operation of cranes, lifts, and forklift
  • Interacts professionally with customer, or customer’s logistics teams, while coordinating shipments
  • Ensures loads are properly strapped, secured, and covered to guarantee safe delivery of Aerotech products
  • Generates charts and presentations from data pulled from ERP
  • Interfaces with Export, Carrier, and Customer portals routinely to abide by customer shipment requirements
  • Collaborates with Production, Supply Chain, and Engineering leadership to ensure a high level of internal customer satisfaction

Additional Duties:

  • Evaluates issues with packaging and determines corrective actions
  • As assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced interpersonal skills; able to work well in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of communicating information to ensure understanding
  • Understanding of Incoterms
  • Quick-learner with the ability to transfer the acquired knowledge to others
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail; ability to type accurately and proficiently
  • Ability to gather data to compile information, and prepare supporting documentation
  • Understanding of export documentation and requirements for international shipments

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Supply Chain or similar field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience with shipping and receiving logistics
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Aerotech does not provide US work authorization sponsorship for this position. OPT and CPT visa holders are not eligible for employment if they will need work authorization sponsorship at any time in the future.
  • Must complete forklift operator course or forklift review course within 3 months months of employment

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
