Job Summary: Provide leadership in the areas of staff development, instructional skills, problem solving, team building, master scheduling, school/community relations, strategic planning, the development of the school vision and related action plans, and the creation of a safe/orderly environment conducive to teaching and learning.
Position Information:
- Full-Time with benefits
- 8 hours/day, 261 days/year

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with school law policy and secure the cooperation of all staff in assuming the responsibility for the overall operation and function of the school.
- Collaborate with district department leaders on the development of written curriculum, current instructional practices, and appropriate assessment plans that will foster coordination and continuity of programs to meet the academic needs of students.
- Facilitate the development of the annual building improvement plan based on current data trends and guide reflection and progress monitoring of plan action steps throughout the year.
- Create instructional schedules that implement the academic program and related support endeavors.
- Prepare PSSA testing schedules and facilitate the completion of all paperwork associated with the implementation of the state standardized testing program.
- Advise the Assistant Superintendent of new or changing instructional methods, materials, strategies, and programs.
- Assist and direct, where required, in the recruitment, screening, hiring, assignment, training, and performance supervision and evaluation of professional and support staff.
- Determine, develop, and implement plans for staff development for the building and facilitate/lead professional development experiences that facilitate professional growth and enhance the quality and effectiveness of teaching at the building and district levels.
- Establish, implement, and continuously evaluate comprehensive safety protocols and emergency response procedures, while fostering a nurturing environment where staff and students feel emotionally secure to learn and grow. This includes conducting regular safety drills, maintaining secure building access, coordinating with local law enforcement and mental health professionals, implementing anti-bullying and social-emotional learning programs, providing mental health resources and professional development for staff, and ensuring clear communication channels for reporting safety concerns.
- Develop and maintain crisis intervention plans that address various scenarios, from medical emergencies to natural disasters, while creating a supportive culture where both staff and students can openly discuss their concerns and receive appropriate assistance when needed.
- Develop and maintain building budgets, activity accounts, and inventory records for materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Attend MDT, IEP, GIEP, 504, ELL-specific, and other meetings to provide input and, as necessary, leadership needed to ensure that students' needs are met to the best of the district's ability.
- Schedule faculty meetings and organize school committees or subgroups as needed or required that promote the improvement and maintenance of school programs, building operations, physical plant, and general communication patterns.
- Create, administer, and communicate to all stakeholders a building student behavior plan.
- Establish and oversee the processes related to assessing and reporting student progress, data collection, student records, and child accounting.
- Facilitate/attend school meetings involving multiple team members, parents, and outside agency personnel (as appropriate) that are focused on using data to advocate for and align the delivery of services required to meet students' needs
- Maintain communication with parents and the community to accurately report and interpret district policies, school programs, and other beneficial or required information.
- Promote positive community relations and provide guidance to PTO leadership by serving as the school district liaison to this school-affiliated organization.
- Attend and participate in multiple evening events for data collection, professional development, and community relations throughout the school year.
- Complete and submit all required reports, forms, and data requests on time to the designated sources.
- Create goals based on past data to improve personal leadership attributes which in turn improve the overall quality and success of the school, staff, and students striving for success within the building and District.
- Maintain knowledge of current educational trends through various personal staff development efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Ten (10) years' experience in public education necessary
- Principal/Assistant principal or supervisory experience is preferred
- Master's degree required
- Pennsylvania Administrative certification required
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may find appropriate and acceptable
