Part-Time Culinary Assistant / Prep Cook

25 hours per week, Weekdays | $20–$22 per hour
Reports to: Executive Chef

Wayne Senior Center is seeking a dependable and energetic weekday/daytime  Part-Time Culinary Assistant/ Prep Cook  to support our chef-led culinary nutrition program serving older adults in the community. This role works closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team to help prepare fresh, nutritious meals, maintain a clean and organized kitchen, and support daily meal service between our kitchen site and the Center.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef with food preparation including chopping, portioning, and basic cooking tasks.
• Flex kitchen coverage with culinary staff in both senior center and commercial kitchen locations.
• Help package and prepare meals for service and take-out
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen including dishwashing and general cleaning
• Assist with receiving and putting away food deliveries and supplies
• Help track and organize kitchen inventory
• Assist with transport of prepared meals and supplies between our kitchen site at The Willows and Wayne Senior Center
• Support smooth kitchen operations and assist with other duties as necessary

Qualifications

• Interest or experience in food preparation or kitchen work preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain active during shifts/climb flights of stairs
• Valid driver’s license/insurance, and vehicle to travel between commercial kitchen and senior center
• Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness and food safety
• Dependable, team-oriented, and positive attitude
• ServSafe Food safety certification required
