H&K Group, Inc. , is seeking an auto technician or diesel mechanic technical high school student for part-time cooperative education positions.     Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policiesReceive oral or written direction from the shop foreman on plans for the day's tasks Reads job order and observes and listens to equipment in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work proceduresAssists in the instillation, repair, and preventative maintenance for various equipment and vehicles Assists with all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensures state inspection requirements are met for cars, trucks, and trailersApplies classroom techniques to regularly scheduled maintenance and repair activities
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills, Education, and Experience

Enrollment in an accredited technicalhigh school or technical high school program in auto mechanics, diesel mechanics, or related fieldBasic math and communication skillsAble and willing to work an abbreviated2nd shift scheduleAbility to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as neededAbility to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

1 year completed study in the related technical fieldPrevious co-op or internship experience

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to
    • Stoop, crouch, kneel
    • Use hands to finger, feel, and grasp
  • Occasionally required to
    • Stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, climb, balance, and crawl
    • Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

Work Environment

  • Noise level is loud at times
  • Required to work outdoors in all environments at times
