General Production Worker
Job Description
The General Production Worker supports specialty steel manufacturing operations in a heavy industrial environment, helping produce high-quality stainless steel, nickel alloys, tool steel, and other specialty metals used in demanding industrial applications. This role is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy hands-on work, want to work full-time 12-hour swing shifts with unlimited overtime opportunities, and are looking to build a long-term career in a stable manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities
- Support daily steel manufacturing and production operations to ensure consistent output and product quality.
- Load, unload, and transport steel products and materials throughout the facility using appropriate material handling methods.
- Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment after receiving proper training and certification.
- Assist with machine setup, production changeovers, and the operation of manufacturing equipment as directed.
- Inspect materials and finished products for defects and verify compliance with quality specifications and standards.
- Use measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers to confirm product dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform grinding, deburring, packaging, and finishing operations on steel products to meet customer and production requirements.
- Accurately maintain production records, documentation, and work orders to support traceability and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with maintenance, operations, and quality teams to meet production goals and resolve issues.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout processes and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with established housekeeping standards.
- Perform other production-related duties as assigned to support overall plant operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in steel mills, metal fabrication, foundry, forging, machining, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Previous overhead crane operating experience.
- Previous forklift operating experience.
- Experience using hand and power tools in an industrial or construction setting.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, production documents, and work orders.
- Backgrounds such as construction laborer, manufacturing associate, production worker, machine operator, warehouse associate, forklift operator, material helper, industrial laborer, steel worker, foundry worker, maintenance helper, or shipping and receiving associate are highly relevant.
- Experience with tasks such as assembly, packaging, machine operation, loading and unloading materials, concrete work, landscaping, and general labor.
- Comfort using measuring tools such as tape measures and other precision instruments.

Work Environment
This role operates in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment that produces specialty stainless and alloy steel products. Team members work around large machinery, overhead cranes, furnaces, rolling equipment, and material handling systems while performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting, standing, walking, bending, and climbing for the duration of 12-hour swing shifts. The facility can involve exposure to heat, noise, dust, and moving equipment. Proper personal protective equipment is provided and required at all times to ensure a safe and compliant work environment, and employees are expected to maintain clean, organized work areas in line with established housekeeping standards. Multiple full-time swing shifts are available, with unlimited overtime and weekend work as needed to support production demands.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38480.00 - $50000.00/yr.
