Rail Jockey Driver

Now Hiring: Jockey Drivers – Harrisburg, PA.

Start your career in a recession-proof industry with Pacific Rail Services. We’re hiring immediately for entry-level Jockey Drivers at the Industrial Rd Norfolk Southern Railyard. No experience needed — we’ll train you on the job.

You’ll be working directly with Pacific Rail Services (not the railroad).

What You’ll Be Doing:

This role combines Hostler Driver and Ground Person duties:

• Drive jockey trucks to move 53ft trailers, containers, and chassis.
• Climb on/off railcars, lock/unlock tracks, and handle inner box connectors.
• Assist packer operators using hand signals.
• Stack/unstack chassis and load/unload chassis racks.
• Perform other yard duties as needed.

Pay & Raises:

• Starting pay: $19.98/hr.
• Overtime : $29.97/hr.
• 2 raises in your first year, 2 in your second year, then annual raises.
• Earn $55,000–$70,000 annually with overtime.

Shift Options:

Choose between:

• 4 days/week (up to 12 hours/day) with 3 days off.
• 5 days/week (up to 12 hours/day) with 2 days off.
• After 60 days, a mandatory 5th or 6th day may be required.

Current Shift Start Times (These are 8 hours shifts with a mandatory 4 hour holdover when necessary):

• 5:00 PM.

Requirements:

• No jockey experience needed.
• Must be 18+ with a valid driver’s license.
• Pass a 7-year background check.
  • Felonies in the last 7 years, jail time, parole, or probation in the last 5 years may disqualify.
• Pass a drug test and a physical capabilities test.
• No GED or diploma required.
• Strong communication skills.

Important: You must live within 45 minutes of Harrisburg, PA. Relocation candidates will not be considered.
