Hardwood Log Buyer

: Hardwood Log Buyer Job Summary The Baillie Group's, Wagner Hardwoods, has an immediate opening for an experienced Hardwood Log Buyer in Eastern Pennsylvania and Eastern New York state. This person will be responsible for log procurement activities with an emphasis on the major Appalachian Hardwoods. Will procure all grades and species of hardwood logs through direct purchases and bids from sawmills, loggers, and land clearers. Will coordinate the delivery of cut logs to company facility. Hardwood Log Buyer Responsibilities:

• Primarily focused on purchasing Appalachian Hardwoods utilizing company buying processes and log grades.
• Utilize handheld data recorder and tagging system to collect log purchase information for submittal to office for inventory control purposes.
• Must have the ability to build and maintain relationships with log suppliers through ethical, consistent and professional performance.
• Must follow and understand industry markets and trends.

Hardwood Log Buyer Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Forestry preferred
• 2 years of successful log buying experience preferred.
• A general knowledge of logging practices.
• Ability to work a long, flexible schedule in a year-round outdoor environment.
• Must be computer literate (email, excel, word, log scaling programs).

Hardwood Log Buyer Pay & Benefits:

• Minimum - Anticipated Maximum Salary: $65,000 - $85,000/year*

• The advertised pay range represents what Baillie Lumber Co. believes we would anticipate paying for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be compensated at the top of the range for a position as candidates must possess experience and qualifications that far exceed the requirements.*
