Personal Care Aide

Job Details:

• Provides personal hygiene services, housekeeping tasks, and other related support services essential to the consumer’s health.
• Observes, records, and reports all changes to the supervisor.
• Performs home management tasks including housekeeping, laundry, shopping, and errands.
• Prepares and serves simple modified diets according to instructions and assists with feeding as necessary.
• Assists with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Assists with toileting, including the use of a bedpan, commode, or toilet.
• Assists self-directing consumers with transfers and ambulation, including the use of a cane, walker, and wheelchair.
• Assists self-directing consumers with medication reminders or refilling the consumer’s prescription at the local pharmacy as specified on the plan of care.
• Provides routine skin care. May assist self-directing consumers in applying nonprescription topical medications to the skin surface.
• Collects routine specimens.
• Obtains the consumer’s weight.
• Assist self-directing consumers in reminding them of their home maintenance exercise programs.
• Assists the self-directing consumer with reminders on changing the tubing or refilling a tank in the use of their oxygen equipment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a home health aide or in a similar role is preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with clients of all ages.
• Ability to adapt to the changing needs of clients with special needs or medical conditions.
