General Manager – Sampan
Philadelphia, PA
Sampan, one of Schulson Collective’s most iconic and enduring concepts, is seeking an exceptional General Manager to lead this high‑energy, chef‑driven, and design‑forward destination in Midtown Village. This role is reserved for a polished, strategic operator with a commanding presence, impeccable taste, and the ability to elevate performance in one of Philadelphia’s most competitive dining corridors. Only candidates with a proven record of delivering excellence in upscale, high‑volume environments will be considered.
About the Role
The General Manager serves as the operational and cultural anchor of Sampan — a celebrated modern Asian restaurant known for its vibrant atmosphere, bold flavors, and dynamic open‑kitchen experience. This leader will shape the guest experience, drive operational performance, and guide a large, diverse team with clarity, confidence, and authority. It is a high‑visibility role within a nationally recognized, rapidly expanding restaurant group, and an opportunity to steward one of Schulson Collective’s flagship Philadelphia concepts.

Lead all FOH operations with a focus on precision, consistency, and elevated, experience‑driven hospitality
Build, mentor, and develop a high‑performing management team and hourly staff across multiple dining environments, including the restaurant and Graffiti Bar
Drive financial performance through disciplined cost control, labor strategy, and operational systems tailored to high‑volume Philadelphia dining
Maintain a polished, composed presence on the floor, setting the tone for service, culture, and guest engagement
Partner closely with the Executive Chef to ensure seamless FOH/BOH alignment and flawless execution of Sampan’s chef‑driven, modern Asian menu
Uphold rigorous service standards and ensure every guest interaction reflects the brand’s reputation for energy, warmth, and excellence
Execute strategic initiatives and collaborate with senior leadership on long‑term planning, operational growth, and market‑specific opportunities
Qualifications
4–6+ years of senior management experience in upscale, fine‑dining, or high‑volume chef‑driven environments
Proven ability to lead large teams with confidence, clarity, and high expectations
Strong financial acumen with demonstrated success in cost control, labor management, and operational performance
A leadership style that commands respect and inspires excellence
Exceptional communication skills and a polished, guest‑focused presence
Experience with Asian cuisine, small‑plates concepts, or high‑energy dining environments is highly valued
Prior Philadelphia leadership experience preferred
Why Join Schulson Collective
Competitive executive‑level compensation and comprehensive benefits
Dining privileges across all Schulson Collective concepts
Opportunity to lead a flagship, high‑visibility restaurant within a nationally recognized, rapidly expanding group
Direct partnership with senior leadership and influence over operational direction
A culture built on professionalism, high standards, and long‑term career growth
