Job Description
The Manufacturing Technician plays a critical role in the production and assembly of high‑performance electronic components and systems. You will support the manufacturing process by operating equipment, assembling and testing components, and ensuring all products meet strict engineering, safety, and quality standards. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow detailed technical instructions in a clean, organized, and climate‑controlled manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain manufacturing equipment and tools in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assemble electronic and mechanical components used in RF, microwave, and power systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency in build quality.
- Test and inspect components and assemblies to verify proper function and adherence to specifications.
- Read and interpret detailed work instructions, blueprints, and schematics to perform precise assembly and production tasks.
- Perform quality checks throughout the production process and accurately document results to support quality assurance standards.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with 5S principles and safety requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and product quality.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and promptly report any unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents.
- Support cross‑functional training and job rotation activities as needed under the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) framework.
- Accurately complete production logs, time tracking records, and all other required manufacturing documentation.
- Use hand tools, measuring instruments such as micrometers, and other inspection tools to verify dimensions and quality of parts.
- Perform general production tasks, including material handling and heavy lifting, as needed to support overall manufacturing operations.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with electronic and mechanical components.
- 2–5 years of previous manufacturing experience.
- Proficiency in operating production and manufacturing machinery in accordance with SOPs.
- Ability to perform assembly work using hand tools and basic shop equipment.
- Experience with inspection and quality assurance activities in a production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and schematics.
- Familiarity with basic measuring tools such as micrometers and other inspection instruments.
- Strong problem‑solving skills to identify and resolve production issues.
- Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, quality, and production colleagues.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation, including production logs and time tracking.
- Capability to perform heavy lifting and general labor tasks as required.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a clean, organized work area.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a cleanroom or clean, controlled manufacturing environment.
- Experience in RF, microwave, or power systems assembly and testing.
- Familiarity with 5S practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comfort working at an individual workstation in a quiet, well‑lit production setting.
- Experience working under a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) or in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to cross‑functional training and job rotation programs.

Work Environment
This role is based in a clean, climate‑controlled manufacturing facility designed to provide a comfortable and professional work setting. Employees work at their own organized workstations in a quiet, calm, and well‑lit environment that supports focus and precision. The production floor emphasizes cleanliness, order, and adherence to 5S and safety standards. The position follows a first‑shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering consistent daytime hours. Work involves the use of manufacturing machinery, hand tools, and precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, as well as participation in general production and inspection activities. Dress and personal protective equipment requirements align with a professional, safety‑conscious manufacturing environment, particularly suited to handling electronic and mechanical components in a controlled setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of State College, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
