ASGCO has a Fitter Welder opening for a candidate with a great positive attitude who excels at working in a team environment which helps drive the business. Responsibilities:
- Ability to operate fabrication equipment such as: band saws, belt sander, drill press, bench grinder, hand tools, measuring tools etc.
- Drive company vehicle when needed
- Maintains welds on various items using a variety of processes (manual arc, tungsten inert gas, metallic inert gas, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items ensuring safety
- Repairs metal surfaces
- Installs various items for the purpose of completing projects safely and within established time frames
- Maintains shop, equipment, tools, vehicle, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items and ensuring safety
- Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/ work orders efficiently
- Assists other trades personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Transports various items (e.g., tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site
- Works well with limited supervision
- Effectively prioritize workloads and use of available resources within time constraints
- Must be able to move steel materials utilizing physical strength, forklifts, slings and straps
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
- Operate company vehicle
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience with Welding/ fabrication
- Knowledge and skills to perform job using band saws, grinders, press brake, shear, drill press, chop saw, part painting
- Knowledge of basic math or geometry
- Read a variety of manuals and following prescribed formats with the ability to inform others and solve practical problems
- Maintain accurate records
- Strong attention to detail and good interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Valid Driver's License
- Can lift up to 100lbs, bending, kneeling, reaching and standing for long periods of time, significant fine finer dexterity
Working Conditions:
- Frequently exposed to regulated noise, cold working conditions also exposed to smells that are within the guidelines
- Possible exposure extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles
- While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.
- Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, which may include a hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, gloves and other required protective equipment as required.
- ASGCO promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment using mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing.
- May be required to work overtime on as needed basis
