New Directions Mental Health, a member of Transformations Care Network, a growing family of behavioral health clinics focused on reducing stigma and improving access to high-quality care, is seeking a mission-oriented Medical Assistant (PMAA) to join our growing team in Monroeville, PA! What You'll do: Medical Assistants (Prescriber Medical Administrative Assistant) provide exceptional customer service to make sure the highest quality work standards are achieved and maintained according to practice policies and procedures. Handles customer calls by answering questions, finding solutions to issues, scheduling, answering concerns or complaints, and providing important information. Must be friendly, upbeat, hard-working, conscientious, empathetic, and motivated at all times. Work as part of a cohesive team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Answer phones and take patient calls and provide professional, accurate, satisfactory answers to their questions and concerns
  • Guide patients through troubleshooting for telehealth appointments
  • Call insurance for prior authorization and copay information
  • Assist providers in administrative tasks
  • Answer general questions about the practice and services provided
  • Answer internal communication questions
  • Coordinate care between patients and providers
  • Schedule patient appointment
  • Call in prescriptions to the pharmacy as needed and work on meds before authorizations
  • Collaborate with other team members and locations to provide excellent customer service
  • Help train new team members as needed
  • Prepare patient files for providers
  • Provide overall prescriber and site support in conjunction with Site Coordinators
  • Own and manage medication logbook and download prescription monitoring reports each day for review
  • Help support clinicians and prescribers in managing the waitlist
  • Must maintain a professional dress code at all times
  • Other duties as assigned
About You:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to work well with a team, especially in stressful situations
  • Patient and empathetic attitude as well as adaptable and flexible
  • Strong time management skills, detail-oriented and organizational skills
  • Computer skills, familiarity with Google Drive
  • Phone skills, including familiarity with complex or multi-line phone systems
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential
  • Creating a safe, effective work environment. Patient-focused
  • Possess a desire to do a thorough job in a fast-paced environment, must be detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor, and interface well with patients and teammates in a mental health setting
  • Ability to complete other office tasks as needed
  • Customer service skills
  • CPR certified or willing to become certified through an accredited program
  • Experience in a Medical Office or call center
  • Experience as a medical assistant
  • Experience verifying insurance, obtaining pre-authorizations, and scheduling for multiple providers
  • Familiarly with HIPAA regulations
  • Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), medical terminology, and a basic understanding of clinical pharmacology
  • Data entry skills
  • Experience working with patients who are suffering from anxiety and depression is preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal and rapport building skills
  • Great active listening skills
