Quality Assurance Specialist
Job Title: Quality Assurance AssociateJob Description
The Quality Assurance Associate supports quality assurance and research and development activities related to a natural color conversion project across a broad confectionery product portfolio. This role helps implement and maintain food safety and quality systems for confectionery manufacturing, ensuring products meet regulatory requirements and internal standards. The position also contributes to accurate food labeling, compliant packaging artwork, and effective documentation control within a laboratory and production environment.
Responsibilities

Support quality assurance and research and development activities related to the natural color conversion project across all relevant confectionery products.

Assist in implementing, maintaining, and improving Food Safety and Quality Systems for the manufacture of confectionery products.

Review product formulations to ensure they meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Evaluate ingredient specifications and supplier documentation to verify compliance with internal standards and regulatory guidelines.

Review Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for raw materials and finished products to confirm they meet established specifications.

Develop accurate and compliant food labeling content required for product packaging, including ingredient statements and nutritional information as needed.

Review packaging artwork to ensure compliance with FDA regulations and internal food labeling specifications.

Support document control activities, including organizing, updating, and maintaining quality and R&D records.

Participate in quality audits, batch record review, and routine quality control activities to ensure consistent product quality.

Collaborate with laboratory and production teams to troubleshoot quality issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Use Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software to manage product data, specifications, and documentation as required.
Essential Skills
-
Experience in quality assurance, research and development, food manufacturing, or a related field; internships are acceptable as relevant experience.

Foundational knowledge of quality assurance principles, including audit processes, batch record review, and quality control activities.

Experience with document control practices in a regulated or manufacturing environment.

Laboratory experience in a food, chemistry, biology, or related scientific setting.

Ability to review formulations, ingredient specifications, supplier documentation, and Certificates of Analysis (COAs) with strong attention to detail.

Capability to develop and review food labeling content and packaging information for compliance with regulatory requirements.

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Clear written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and documenting quality processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or in progress) in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field preferred.

Familiarity with food color systems, including artificial and natural colors.

Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and food safety/quality systems.

Experience working in a manufacturing or food production environment.

Experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software such as Agile, Autodesk, Arena, Teamcenter, or similar tools.

Understanding of FDA regulations related to food labeling and packaging is highly beneficial.
Work Environment
This role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. The position involves regular interaction with both laboratory and production environments in a confectionery manufacturing setting, working closely with cross-functional teams in quality, R&D, and operations. The work includes computer-based tasks such as documentation, label development, artwork review, and use of PLM software, as well as hands-on activities related to quality control and support of manufacturing processes.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
