The Production Manager for Building 1 at Custom Processing Services (CPS) provides leadership and operational coordination across all production shifts within the Building 1 business unit. This role is responsible for ensuring consistent execution of the manufacturing plan, alignment between shifts, and delivery of operational performance targets. The Production Manager works through the Operations Leaders to drive safety, quality, production attainment, and operational efficiency. This role translates the strategic objectives established by the Plant Manager into structured operational systems, processes, and priorities that enable reliable daily execution.
Using the CPS Core Values as a foundation, the Production Manager balances being People Focused, Customer Focused, and CPS Focused, ensuring that operational results are achieved through strong leadership, employee development, and disciplined manufacturing practices. Success in this role requires strong communication, critical thinking, and leadership capabilities to align multiple teams and functions toward common operational goals.
Accountable Functions and Responsibilities:
People Focused:
- Support the Plant Manager in establishing, maintaining, and improving a culture of safety throughout Building 1 operations.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to Operations Leaders.
- Ensure consistency in leadership practices, training expectations, and employee engagement across shifts.
- Assist in workforce planning, training program development, and employee development initiatives within the business unit.
- Promote a culture of respect, accountability, and engagement among operational leadership and production employees.
- Support the Operations Leaders in resolving personnel challenges and strengthening team performance.
- Reinforce CPS Core Values through consistent leadership behaviors and expectations.
Customer Focused:
- Ensure operational processes consistently meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
- Support reliable execution of commitments related to On Time Availability (OTA).
- Collaborate with Technical Service Engineers to ensure production readiness for customer trials and development activities.
- Ensure proper handling and custody of customer-supplied materials and products.
- Participate in investigation and resolution of customer complaints and quality incidents.
CPS Focused:
- Support the Plant Manager in delivering revenue expectations and operational financial targets for Building 1.
- Ensure alignment between the production schedule, staffing plans, and operational resources.
- Drive operational consistency across shifts to improve uptime, efficiency, and shift attainment.
- Monitor operational performance metrics and communicate performance trends
- Ensure proper use and accuracy of production systems including: ERP (Deacom), CMMS (MaintainX), Production reporting systems, HRM systems (Paycor)
- Ensure operations comply with CPS certifications and standards including ISO 9001
Key Functional Roles:
- Provide daily operational leadership across all shifts within Building 1.
- Align Operations Leaders to ensure consistent execution of the production schedule.
- Lead operational coordination between production, maintenance, quality, logistics, and planning.
- Support the Plant Manager in running the daily production meeting and establishing priorities.
- Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions to maintain production stability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and throughput.
- Ensure effective communication of operational goals and expectations across the business unit.
Other Key Roles:
- Assist the Plant Manager with operational planning and execution of the manufacturing strategy.
- Support the budgeting process through resource planning and operational forecasting.
- Collaborate with other Plant Managers and Subject Matter Experts to support corporate manufacturing initiatives.
- Assist in developing standardized operational practices across CPS manufacturing sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or Senior Leadership.
· Advanced degree in an Engineering discipline, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field, and two years of manufacturing leadership experience, or
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years of manufacturing leadership experience

· Demonstrated ability to lead multiple teams in a manufacturing environment
· Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
· Ability to analyze operational data and identify performance trends
· Strong decision-making and critical thinking abilities
· Experience developing and mentoring operational leaders
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
· Ability to manage competing operational priorities in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
Location:
• Reading Campus (primary work location) – 98% of time
• East Greenville Campus (secondary location) – 2% of time
Work Environment (estimated averages):
• Office 40%
• Floor 60%
