Wills Eye Hospital is hiring an Infection Prevention Manager in Philadelphia, PA . In this role, you’ll serve as a clinical expert responsible for the oversight of the hospital’s Infection Prevention and Control Program which is designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment of care and to help prevent the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections. This is a Full-Time 40 hours per week position under the direction of the Director of Quality.

In this role, you’ll support hospital-wide infection prevention, regulatory compliance, and patient/staff safety initiatives. You’ll manage several critical functions across the hospital, primarily centered around infection prevention, compliance, and safety operations and contribute to a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
Develops, implements, and evaluates the organizational infection prevention program to ensures there is a hospital-wide system for the prevention, identification, investigation, and control of infections, including surveillance designed to identify possible communicable diseases.
Responsible for enforcement of Standard Precautions, hospital-acquired infection surveillance, specific environmental monitoring, outbreak management, regulatory compliance, and educational programs designed to inform and instruct hospital employees in safe patient care practices.
Develops and implements effective facility-wide infection control policies and procedures that adhere to nationally recognized guidelines and ensure compliance with Accreditation Commission for Healthcare (ACHC) standards, Pennsylvania Department of Health, OSHA, CDC, CMS and other county, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
Collaborates with the Director of Nursing and Quality Director to conduct the annual risk assessment and develops annual Infection Prevention plan based on population(s) served, services provided, and analysis of surveillance data.
Implements performance improvement activities which are selected based on data analyses, annual risk assessment and regulatory requirements.
Oversees the surveillance for hospital-acquired infections and ensures compliance with the CDC NHSN definitions and CMS regulations for participation as well as reporting requirements to the State and local health departments.
Collaborates with the Nursing Educator to plan, organize, and evaluate training programs for hospital employees on topics such as hand hygiene, PPE use, and isolation procedures.
Analyzes and identifies any trends in infection prevention data and reports in an appropriate timeframe provides reports and statistical data to the Infection Control Committee, Quality Committee, Medical Executive Committee, Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, Hospital Administration and other committees as needed.
Manages the NHSN database for accuracy, analytics and reporting. Oversees documentation and reporting communicable diseases as defined by federal, state, and local levels.
Oversees standards, practices and compliance involving sterilization, disinfection, construction and sanitation as they pertain to Infection Prevention.
Oversees Infection Prevention and Control Construction Risk Assessments (ICRAs) for construction, renovation and maintenance projects and monitors compliance with infection prevention recommendations to reduce risk of communicable disease exposures to patients and staff.
Rounds on units/departments to observe compliance with infection prevention policies/procedures and provide just in time coaching (e.g. Disinfection processes, hand hygiene and PPE). Acts as a liaison between the community and/or public health department for potential or actual communicable disease issues.
Member of the Wills Eye Hospital Emergency Management Committee to assist in coordinating with federal, state and local emergency preparedness and health authorities to address communicable disease threats, bioterrorism, and outbreaks.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and mandatory reporting requirements at the local, state and federal levels. Facilitate compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g. PA Department of Health, Accreditation Commission for Healthcare, etc.). Assists the organization evaluate and maintain readiness for state, federal, and accrediting agency surveys. Maintains an updated knowledge of all infection prevention regulatory and accreditation standards per CMS, PA DOH, Accreditation Commission for Healthcare, OSHA and CDC.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Microbiology or Health Science related field.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or obtain within 1 year of hire.
If RN must have valid PA RN License.
Five years of experience in clinical/patient services or relevant health care position.
At least 2 years of experience in Infection Prevention, preferably in an acute care or Hospital facility.
Highly effective analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and performance improvement methodologies and statistical process control tools.
