Precision Sheet Metal Finisher & Press Brake Operator
What your day looks like
From Monday to Thursday, 6:00am–4:30pm, you’ll turn raw panels into precision parts using press brakes, shears, and hot melt equipment. You’ll measure twice, bend once, and keep a sharp eye on quality while supporting teammates and continuous improvement.
Career path and responsibilities
Level 1 Finisher
- Operate the Press Brake, Shear, or Hot Melt Machine as a helper alongside an experienced finisher.
- Assist lead finishers with panel shearing, edge forming, and Polyamide pours.
- Use a tape measure and calipers; perform basic math with fractions, decimals, multiplication, and addition.
- Conduct visual checks to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Support team-based continuous improvement efforts and adjust your schedule as priorities shift.
- Pitch in on tasks at the same or lower job grade when needed to help the department succeed.
- Consistently promote Fenner Precision Polymers values and behaviors.
Level 2 Finisher
- Demonstrate full proficiency in all Level 1 duties.
- Run a Press Brake, Shear, or Hot Melt Machine as the main finisher, including defining proper setups and machine settings to achieve target quality.
- Direct your helper clearly and communicate the assistance required.
- Coach Level 1 finishers and those progressing toward Level 2.
- Champion Fenner Precision Polymers values and behaviors.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Level 3 Finisher
- Preset and set up all Press Brakes, Shears, and Hot Melt Machines efficiently; act as the main finisher on any machine.
- Understand, follow, and help develop ISO standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Engage in LEAN and world-class improvement initiatives.
- Train and assist Level 1 and Level 2 finishers.
- Uphold Fenner Precision Polymers values and behaviors.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months of related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
- Follow all EHS policies, rules, and work instructions and complete required EHS training.
- Wear all required PPE at all times.
- Own safety for yourself, coworkers, and visitors by participating in or conducting risk assessments, workplace inspections, corrective actions, and safety observations.
- Report incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions/acts, and hazards; stop work if imminent danger is present.
- Keep your work area orderly and maintain equipment in proper working condition.
