To excel as a Case Manager Assistant at YMCA of Reading & Berks County, you must possess a diverse skill set and a genuine passion for supporting individuals in recovery. Successful candidates will exhibit excellent decision-making skills, emotional maturity, and flexibility. Effective communication, both verbal and written, is crucial, along with maintaining a positive and professional demeanor towards clients and staff.

Displaying enthusiasm and respect in all interactions is key to fostering a caring and empathetic environment. Furthermore, candidates must demonstrate a commitment to ongoing recovery work if in recovery themselves. By upholding the absolutes of the YMCA, including greeting clients warmly, showing respect at all times, and maintaining a positive attitude, you will contribute to a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where individuals can thrive.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Must have current drivers license
  • Must be on-site of the program facility during scheduled work hours
  • Person may not have any current legal charges or obligations and is either employed enrolled in training/school or is involved in a praiseworthy endeavor
  • Persons in recovery from chemical addiction with at least two (2) years continuous sobriety preferred
  • If self-diagnosed as recovering addict
  • Must remain clean and sober, maintain sobriety and active program of recovery to provide positive role modeling.
  • Must commit to ongoing recovery work program of recovery if in recovery
  • Submit to random urine screens
  • Must be CPR and First Aid Certified
  • Ability to communicate positively and professionally using the English Language both spoken and written
  • Ability to demonstrate good decision making skills, intelligence, flexibility, emotional maturity, a positive outlook, respect, and a professional attitude toward all clients and staff
  • Ability to communicate positively and demonstrate enthusiasm
  • The following five absolutes of the YMCA of Reading and Berks County will be demonstrated in all situations
  • Greet all newly admitted clients with a handshake, eye contact, and smile
  • All staff will be on time for interviews, appointments, and meetings
  • Treat all clients (regardless of the circumstances) with dignity and respect
  • Maintain a positive, caring, and empathic attitude
  • Be present
