Lifeguards

Position Title: Lifeguard

Overview:

This role involves monitoring facilities and activities, communicating and enforcing rules in a professional manner, and ensuring the safety of both staff and patrons. The lifeguard will work under the supervision of the Emmaus Aquatic Club Facility Director.

Position Responsibilities:

- Perform rescues and provide emergency care as needed.

• Care needs to be conducted per American Red Cross standards and procedures. These are all covered in the ARC lifeguard training course.

- Understand and enforce pool rules and regulations.

- Perform opening and closing checklists.

• Opening and closing checklists can be found in the lifeguard office.

- Address public inquiries and direct concerns appropriately.

• Questions regarding pool chemistry, water temperature, overall cleanliness of the facility should all be directed to the facilities director. [email protected]

- Maintain a proactive safety approach by enforcing rules and monitoring for distressed swimmers.

• Lifeguards should actively scan the pool while patrons are in the water.
• No cell phone or other electronic devices while patrons are in the pool.

- Complete reports related to patron care and report safety or disciplinary issues to supervisors.

• Incident report binder is in the office in the black holder affixed to the left side of the door.

- Attend training sessions, maintain certifications, and uphold physical fitness.

- During cold months aid in the placement of covers at the conclusion of shift.

- Maintain a professional appearance while on duty.

• Lifeguards should be wearing an EMAC lifeguard shirt and lifeguard bathing suit.

- Support EMAC and LMT customer service standards.

- Enforce all EMAC and LMT aquatic policies and procedures.

Time Commitment:

-Shifts may vary depending on staffing needs but typical lifeguard schedule and shifts are Monday through Sunday 11:45pm-8:00pm, 11:30am-3:30pm, 3:15pm-8:30pm.

Qualifications:

- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification (certification assistance available if expired).

- Excellent customer service skills.

- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergencies.

- Strong cross-cultural communication skills for working with a diverse population.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills.

- Physical capability to meet Lifeguard Certification requirements.

- Ability to frequently walk, run, stand, or stoop.

- Capacity to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

- Good speech, hearing, literacy, and vision.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.50 per hour
