Position Summary
The Applications Engineer (AE) in the Motion Solution Division provides technical analysis, consultation, and support to deliver optimal precision motion control and automation solutions for customers across industry, government, and academia. This customer-facing role involves developing technical solutions, performing sizing, selection, and testing, supporting sales with quotations and proposals, and managing customer projects. AEIs are instrumental in building new customer relationships and sustaining existing ones. Furthermore, you will provide product development recommendations and support the division's overall growth objectives.
- Review customer documentation and analyze applications to understand requirements
- Engage in discussions with customers to gather insights about their processes and determine motion system needs
- Recommend appropriate motion components or systems based on customer requirements
- Create and maintain documentation for customer applications
- Assist with internal infrastructure projects aimed at improving applications engineering group efficiency and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop technical content for white papers and application notes to support product knowledge and marketing efforts
- Deliver technical presentations to both current customers and potential prospects
- Prepare detailed proposals, cost estimates and pricing for projects
- Perform product and/or application testing
- Recommend standard products or custom-engineered solutions to solve customer applications
- Develop deep expertise in an assigned industry application area and/or product area
- Create and maintain Application Data Sheets (ADS) to document all technical aspects of customer applications
- Manage post-sales activities for custom jobs, ensuring project success

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Communication Skills:
- Effective communicator, able to present complex technical information clearly to technical audiences
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret scientific/technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Mathematical/Engineering Skills:
- Competent in advanced mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Highly skilled in spreadsheet-based calculations and applications.
- Capable of working with equations of motion, basic mechanical concepts, and servo control theory.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
- Organizational Skills:
- Strong sense of urgency and initiative with a focus on achieving accurate results
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Other Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, including engineers, production staff, and management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university
- A combination of education and professional experience may be considered in place of the degree requirement
- Must be authorized to work in the US currently and in the future without employer sponsorship.
